A special hotel
Well, I'm the first to admit that I'm difficult to please but this hotel charmed me from the start. We arrived to find that the desk staff were only expecting my husband - who was on a business trip. On seeing me, the clerk immediately started searching for a 'nicer' room, despite the fact that all the rooms are already doubles. The subsitute room was lovely with blue toile de Jouay fabric on the walls, decent art work, and a wonderful semi-circular balcony with cafe table and chairs. Other reviewers have written about the marble bathrooms and I can confirm that everything sparkled and the shower gave a whole new meaning to the word 'Power'.
Downstairs, the decor and furnishings are equally splendid. The bar area is warm and comfortable with lots of mirrors and comfortable sofas.
The only downside - which was probably due to the time of year - is that there was no restaurant - although the desk will send out for food if guests would like. A self-service breakfast is available, and while the scrambled eggs looked rubbery, there was a reasonable selection of other items including - and I do wish English hotels would take heed of this - plenty of freshly-prepared fruit.
It's a great position, too, in a quiet residential area midway between Lausanne Centre and Ouchy. Ten minutes walk and you're at the lake.
Convenient, Quiet, and Such a Value!!
My recent stay at the Nash Carlton was great. It is conveniently located between the train station and Lake Leman, just down the street from the park entrance to the Olympic Museum. My room was very modern with a small terrace. There was construction of a subway extension going on during my stay, but the noise was minimal and the bed was very comfortable.
I would definitely stay here again when in Lausanne. The only downside was that I had to pay for wireless internet access, but at least it was available.
Chapeau !
Nash Carlton , Highly recommended !
This is a great hotel. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated, and you're within ten minutes walk of the lake. The staff are very friendly - would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very nice Carlton !
Very nice hotel. Bathroom completely modern. Hotel and room very clean. Quiet street. From hotel and walk down to lake, but is uphill on return. Or can walk uphill from hotel to city center.
We will stay again at Nash Ville Hotel
We have had some experience of this hotel group having stayed at a sister hotel in London. An experience so enjoyable that it was the deciding factor in booking the Nash Ville Hotel for our Geneva trip and again we were pleasantly surprised. The room was small but very comfortable with dressing gowns, slippers and drinking water supplied. The decor was to a high standard with cable tv (if you had time to watch) and the bathroom was spotless. The staff were extremely helpful and although the hotel is in the "red light" district, it felt very safe and unobtrusive. We found the location very central for getting about and there is an abundance of cafes and good quality restaurants nearby, often hidden away in side streets. if we ever return to Geneva I would have no hestitation in staying here again. Thank you for making our trip so pleasant!
Excellent hotel near a great location Ouchy !
This smallish ‘boutique' four-star hotel is in an excellent location, just a few blocks up the hill from the lake-side part of Ouchy. It was just a 10 minute walk down to the numerous restaurants and small shops down by the lake, where we went each of our three nights to eat (note, however, it's a longer 15 minute walk back up again!). Ouchy is lovely, and much nicer than the centre of Lausanne itself, which we found much busier and somewhat confusing. The train station, however, is only a 20 minute walk up the hill into the town centre, so the hotel really is located pretty well between the city and the lake.
The room was beautifully appointed, with a good king sized bed (more likely, two beds pushed together) and plenty of shelf and wardrobe space all around, although not much drawer space otherwise. It had superb air conditioning, from which you could set the precise temperature, and this was very much needed when we stayed in late June.
The room included a stocked mini-bar, but we simply pushed these items out of the way and happily used the refrigerator for our own drinks. The television had 40 channels in a variety of languages, mainly French and German, but with a few English and other language channels.
All the rooms had a balcony with a couple of chairs and a table. As others have noted, however, the construction of the new Metro between Ouchy and the centre is immediately next door (on the right hand side as you look at the hotel). This didn't bother us, since we were out all day, and the construction had finished when we came back in the evening, but if you intend to sit out on your balcony during the day, I suggest you check with the hotel if the construction is still going on, or ask if you can be on the opposite side of the building.
The bathroom was beautiful, with marble throughout, spotlessly clean, and looked new. There was a great power shower/bath, a heated towel rail, hairdryer, and every kind of toiletry item you could possibly need: soap, shampoo, vanity sets, shaving sets, toothbrushes, combs, shoe shine, sewing kits, etc. The room also included a small safe that was free to use.
Other than the bed, the room included a couple of chairs, a bureau and a small side table. The carpet was thick, and very clean.
The interior of the hotel was very nice, and the hallways well decorated. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. We parked the car in a space immediately in front of the hotel. This costs nothing, but you should let them know in advance that you require a space.
The breakfast is in a pleasant room downstairs, providing a small but varied buffet breakfast. It included a small selection of hot items (sausage, bacon and scrambled egg) but we did notice that this quickly disappeared and did not seem to be replaced, so two out of three days were left with only cold items.
Be careful to check that the breakfast is included in your rate. If it is not, then we do not think it is worth paying the price, since you can find something cheap and light at one of the cafes in Ouchy. If it is included, however, you will find the selection satisfying.
We were delighted with our rate - we only paid 170 CHF per night. This was a ‘weekend rate' kindly offered to us over the telephone, even though we started our three nights on a Thursday. This rate included the breakfast for the two of us, so this was real bargain for a hotel of this class.
If ever we stayed in Lausanne again, and could afford the high rates it would be great to stay on the lake front in Ouchy. Being more realistic, however, we wouldn't hesitate to return to the Nash Carlton, and would recommend it highly to others.

Great stay at the Nash Ville, Geneva
I have just this morning returned from my trip to Geneva and Lausanne. My stay there could not have been more pleasant. I was greeted and shown to my suite. It was spotlessly clean and the sheets on the bed crisp. The bathroom was fully stocked with all sorts of complimentary toiletries and the the towels thick and fluffy. The hairdryer worked and the bathroom floor felt warm, i think perhaps underfloor heating. The suite also had a coffee machine with all the relevant coffee/tea making bits. The TV also worked perfectly. They also offer room service. I had breakfast in the morning at the hotel and whilst everything was provided that you could ask for, including excellent coffee, the scrambled eggs were not so fantastic. The staff were also very polite, not effusively friendly, but competent and curteous. Centrally situated, close to the most amazing shops and also within walking distance to the rail station. Upon arrival at the airport, a quick walk across the concourse and down an elevator to the station, 3 swiss francs gets you to Geneva town centre. This hotel is definatively underrated. It is perhaps not in the trendy part of town, but definatively in the convenient part. The "red light" district is really only one road and nothing to worry about.
Pleasant stay at the Nash Ville !
We had a pleasant 4 day stay in December 2006 in a room on the top floor which was spacious and airy and also had a large balcony. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpfull. The hotel is situated handy for central railway staton and the lake and although it is within the local red light district, the girls did not give any hassle. We would stop again.
Great hotel Nash Ville Geneva
Stayed here for 2 nights on business last week and I was pleasantly suprised when I checked in. It's bang in the centre of town so a perfect base for exploring, 2 mins from the lake itself and surrounded by dozens of bars and restaurants. The hotel itself was pretty good internally -it wouldn't hurt to be slightly modernised but it was clean and tidy throughout and the rooms were large and well equipped. The staff were very friendly, the prices on a par with other Swiss hotels and other than the fact it doesn't offer evening meals, I would recommend it highly. The red light district is not an issue either - never did I feel threatened, uncomfortable or anything of the sort - the girls stay around the back of the hotel so if you don't want to get involved, you don't go that way - simple! My room was on the top floor with a big balcony but I was never disturbed by any sort of excessive noise - just the usual you find in a major city centre. I would gladly stay there again. (I can also recommend an Italian just around the corner called the 'Milan' - excellent ravioli! and a pub called the Grand Duke just in from the lake - watched the England match in there!)

OK experience at Nash Ville Geneva
As 60+ Americans, wife and I stayed for 2 nights late September 2006. As other reviewers have said - the rooms are smallish (but very clean) and with amenities - they were adequate. Room prices were inexpensive - for Geneva. Positive comments are: competent friendly staff; internet kiosk in lobby; 3-5 minute walk to train station/bus center; 7-8 minute walk to lake; ethnically diverse neighborhood; many restuarants with diversity of foods in area; easy to walk to sights/attractions in downtown Geneva. Would stay here again - if price were again an issue.

Superb customer service at Nash Carlton !
I have to say The Nash Carlton Lausanne have been a dream to deal with. I was getting married in Lausanne and needed accommodation for approx. 40 guests. I liased with The Nash Carlton during the upcoming weeks to the wedding and they were very very helpful, especially as I kept changing names and dates of peoples arrival.
One the day our guests arrived at the hotel, they were welcomed with a drink which was very unexpected but exactly what people needed after a long days travelling - Thank you for this! The rooms were perfect, exactly what we needed and the suites were superb.
The only downfall was that the heaters under the breakfast food had blown out and so food was cold on the first morning but, the next day it was back to an excellent standard.
I cannot thank the Nash Carlton enough for accommodating my guests and making them feel very welcome. Excellent service, excellent rooms and superb value for money. Thank you!
